The Walking Dead: End of My Dreams

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" Matthew 5:4. These contradictory words of Jesus are the path to discovering the REAL life that he offers - a full and fulfilled life - one that is hidden from us and requires us to die to ourselves to discover it. 

The Walking Dead: End of My Rope

When you reach the end of you is where you find Jesus begins. Today we begin a series looking at the real life Jesus offers through his sermon on the mount. "You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule" (Matthew 5:3 MSG). Only Jesus can give us life. It is those who realize they need Him, who reach with the desperation of a victim for a life preserver, that are truly blessed.

Friending: Unfriending

We cannot live a God honoring life without God honoring friends. But is UNFRIENDING bad company what we need to do? Or would our relationships be better served by redefining them? Ultimately, the tension to be managed here is to move forward with God's plans for your life, while making sure you love people where they are, inviting them on the journey to honor God with you. 

Friending: One Community Away

You are one community away from your entire destiny being changed. Having a personal relationship with God is important, but God designed us to have a shared relationship with Him. That means that we are not just missing a someone in our lives, but we are missing a group of someones. 

Friending: One Friend Away

We are, each of us, just one friend away from changing our destiny. We all need friends, but there are 3 specific kinds of friends we need in our lives. Friends who will make us better, encourage us, and tell us the truth.

Friending: The Foundation of Friendship

Twisted: Plans to Prosper

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future." You know this verse well and probably have it on a coffee mug or cross stitched into a pillow. But is this verse a promise for me and you? Or do we have it twisted?

"Do not judge, lest you be judged" is the most quoted verse in the Bible in today's culture by those inside and outside the church. When Jesus said this, did he remove our ability to make judgments? Is that what he really meant? Or are there provisions to how and who we should judge?
